I have lived in the Phoenix-metro area since I was 2 years old (so I consider myself to be a native). In high school, I participated in Student Council (Student Body President) and Orchestra (Principal Violinist) all four years. I graduated from Tempe High School in 1997. After graduating from High School, I attended Arizona State University-Tempe Campus where I earned a Bachelors of Art in Education-Secondary Education and Chemistry in 2001.
I began teaching here at Desert Vista that same year. I’ve taught chem.-physics and chemistry at both the honors and general levels. While teaching I sponsored the Student Council, National Honors Society, Step team, and served on the school improvement team as a target area chair. In 2004 and 2006, I completed my Masters’ degrees’ with the University of Phoenix. I hold degrees in Educational Counseling and Administration and Supervision. In my spare time, I’m an adjunct faculty member at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. My specialty area is in Chemistry.
In January 2009, my role shifted from teacher to Assistant Principal. Being involved in fine arts and clubs as student and teacher has really help prepare me for my current role. I’m excited to be here and serve the Desert Vista family and community.
