I moved to Ahwatukee in 1981 from Etters, Pennsylvania. I attended Kyrene de Los Lomas, Kyrene Junior High, and graduated from Corona del Sol. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Northern Arizona University in Special Education (K-12) and Elementary Education (K-8). I completed my Master’s Degree in Counseling and Certificate Program in Educational Administration from the University of Phoenix.
I began my career at Desert Vista High School in 1996. I taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Freshman English and Chem-Physics in the Special Education Department for my first years. In 2001 I joined the Guidance Department and was the Class of 2005 Counselor, Testing Coordinator, and NCAA Clearinghouse Coordinator. I was the Freshman Baseball coach from 1996 to 2006. In the fall of 2006, I was hired as the Assistant Principal of Activities then in 2008 became the Assistant Principal of Athletics.
I am married to my wonderful wife, Elizabeth who is a teacher in the Kyrene School District. I have two beautiful children, Derick and Kaitlyn. Derick graduated from Desert Vista in 2010 and Kaitlyn will be entering 3rd grade.
I would like to take this moment to welcome the parents and students to the Thunder family. Your child is a member of an outstanding student body that strives for excellence in the classroom and on the court/field of competition. We look forward in partnering with our parents and students to make the high school years a positive experience.
