Just in time for Christmas, the Marcos de Niza boys soccer team, led by Head Coach Bobby Davis, went on a very special annual shopping spree.
On Dec. 19, 2016, the boys headed out to Arizona Mills Mall armed with $5 a piece. They broke up into groups of four and each group picked a child from the Angel Tree, then began the hunt for the perfect gifts that might bring the children joy this holiday season. This year, the soccer team was able to buy gifts for five different children. They were even able to outfit one boy in full soccer gear, including shin guards, soccer ball, cleats and socks.
The Salvation Army and 3TV teamed up for the 31st Annual Christmas Angel program which allows shoppers at malls all over the Valley to buy gifts for children who might otherwise go without. Volunteers collect, wrap, and deliver the gifts.
