The World Language Department at Tempe High School provides opportunities for students to learn a second language. Students studying Spanish or Mandarin Chinese are also given an opportunity to receive an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. The World Language Department strives to prepare all students with 21^st Century language skills for success in a rapidly changing and increasingly interconnected multilingual society. Our focus is to combine communicative language learning, cultural awareness, critical thinking skills, and exposure to multicultural literature that will broaden student’s perspectives of world views as they understand their own.
