Four years of English, including composition and literature, are required for graduation as well as in-state university admissions. Both regular and Honors courses are available at all grade levels, and AP and dual enrollment classes become available at the junior and senior levels. The English Department also offers a variety of elective offerings, such as Journalism and Design Productions (Yearbook).

There will be no Honors Freshman Summer Reading assignment for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. The decision to discontinue Summer reading requirements was a district-wide, TUHSD decision.
