Vocal Music Strand/Pathway

    The purpose of the Vocal Music Strand is to introduce students to the various genres of choral and solo vocal music. Students will develop skills in vocal technique, music theory, and music history that will help them prepare for careers in vocal performance and choral conducting.

    Vocal Performance Emphasis

    This course of study is designed for the student who wants to pursue careers in solo vocal performance. ***Students must perform a solo vocal recital to complete this course of study.

    Choral Conducting Emphasis

    This course of study is designed for the student who wants to pursue careers as music teachers. Students are expected to develop strong leadership skills by leading sectionals and working with choir council.
    ***Students must conduct an ensemble at a concert to complete this course of study.

    Music Composition Emphasis

    This course of study is designed for the student who wants to pursue careers in writing and recording music. Students must learn to work with current music recording and writing software.
    ***Students must compose a piece to be performed by an ensemble to complete this course of study.

    Musical Theatre Emphasis

    This course of study is designed for the student who wants to explore careers performing in musicals. Students must develop skills in singing , acting and dancing.
    ***Students must participate in a school musical to complete this course of study.
