The mission of the MdN Mathematics Department is to provide an environment where students can learn and become critical thinkers who experience mathematics as a coherent, useful, and logical subject.  It is our goal that by the end of the year, all students will be able to use the math practices daily.  Students will:  make sense of problems and persevere in solving them, reason abstractly and quantitatively, construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others, model with mathematics, use appropriate tools strategically, attend to precision, look for and make sense of structure, and look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning. 

In support of our mission, we are committed to professional development, updating curriculum, making real world connections, and incorporating technology. We maintain high academic and behavioral expectations, make every classroom minute count and encourage all students to realize their full potential. We employ an assortment of assessment techniques, provide a variety of teaching styles, and maintain intervention plans for students that need extra help.
