Through a partnership with Arizona Governor Doug Ducey's Office of Youth, Faith and Families, the goal of the Arizona High School Health and Wellness Program is to prevent the onset of underage drinking, marijuana use, and prescription drug misuse and abuse by utilizing evidence based programs.
The funding specifically provides for three full-time employees to develop, plan and execute programming for students with a focus on the prevention of underage drinking, marijuana use and prescription drug misuse and abuse.
Additional hours for teacher stipends, town hall meetings for parents, life skills training for 9th grade students, materials to support programs, staff professional development and non-cash incentives for those participating in the programs are just a few examples of programs that will be implemented through this grant.
