TUHSD COVID-19 Dashboard
See below for the most current dashboard numbers and dates.
The purpose of this dashboard is to provide our Tempe Union High School District families and staff with a transparent summary of COVID-19 cases by school. An active case indicates that a student or staff member participating in on-campus activities has tested positive for an active COVID-19 infection.
Individuals who test positive are excluded from participation in any in-person/on-campus activity until the registered nurse verifies that the individual meets the return criteria set by state and local health authorities. Once the individual is cleared to return, they are no longer considered an active case and their case is removed from the dashboard count.
When a positive case is reported to any TUHSD school, it is also reported to the Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH). The school will communicate with families in the following ways:
As part of the contact tracing process, the school will notify every person that has been identified as having “close contact” with the positive individual. Close contact is defined as “being within three to six feet for a cumulative ten to fifteen-minute duration over a 24 hour period.”
Any student or staff member deemed to have been in close contact with the positive individual is required to stay home for 10 days from exposure date, unless they have been fully vaccinated.
For the purposes of this guidance, people are considered fully vaccinated for COVID-19 ≥2 weeks after they have received the second dose in a 2-dose series (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna), or ≥2 weeks after they have received a single-dose vaccine (Johnson and Johnson (J&J)/Janssen).
ONLY unvaccinated staff members and students determined to have had close contact will need to be quarantined.
- After all persons who have been in close contact have been notified, and the notification letter has been sent, the case will be reported on the dashboard below.
- The dashboard will be updated as information becomes available, including but not limited to, daily.
Please note that TUHSD is following MCDPH guidelines. It is not current practice to notify the entire school of a positive case. All communication procedures outlined above follow FERPA guidelines and protect the privacy rights of students and staff.
