ASU GEAR UP

  • GEAR UP, or Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs, is a federally funded program that supports 9th grade students in the class of 2024 (9th graders in 2020-2021) to succeed in school. GEAR UP and Tempe High School believe that every student should have the opportunity to continue their education after high school, and that every student should receive the support and information needed throughout high school to successfully pursue and achieve their academic goals. The current Freshman students will have the support of the GEAR UP staff throughout their four years at Tempe High School and their first year of postsecondary education.

Some of the services and supports that GEAR UP students can expect:

    • Academic advising and tutoring
    • Academic skill building (note-taking, study skills, etc.)
    • Campus visits
    • Career planning
    • Mentoring
    • Support with frustrations in and outside the classroom

GEAR UP staff will be housed at Tempe High School, Monday through Friday, inside office C-112. Please do not hesitate to reach out with questions or to learn more about GEAR UP.
