Men's Basketball Adds Arizona Native Broom for 2007-08 Season
Head men's basketball coach Perry Watson announced on Tuesday that the Titans had signed junior college transfer Mychael Broom to a National Letter of Intent for the 2007-08 season. Broom will continue his athletic and academic career at Detroit as a sophomore and have three years of eligibility remaining.

Played four years of hoops at Marcos De Niza High School in Tempe...captain of the team in 2003 and 2004...second-team all-conference and first team All-East Valley in 2004...set school record for free throws made in a season and most assists in career...averaged 20 points and eight assists in senior year...posted school record for field goal percentage in 2004...career highs were 44 points, 15 rebounds and 18 assists...hit game-winner for rival Corona on a 28-footer in 2002 5A state championships. 2006-07: (St. Mary's College) Saw action in 26 games with one start in his first season with the Gaels...was primarily used as a defensive substitution...his only start of the season came on the road at Gonzaga on Feb. 10...averaged 1.1 points and 1.2 rebounds, and 6.2 minutes per game...played 22 minutes in the first game of the season against Seattle Pacific, which was the most of the season...scored a career-high five points against San Diego on Feb. 5 and then matched that with five points in the 87-47 win over Portland in the WCC Tournament...scored four points against Seattle Pacific and CS Monterey Bay...shot 37.0 percent (10-27) from the floor, 16.7 percent (2-12) from 3-point land, and 58.3 percent from the free throw line...had a career-high six rebounds against Murray State in the Shamrock Invitational on Nov. 12...had six steals, nine assists and three blocked shots.
2005-06 (Fresno City College): Averaged 8.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for Fresno City College, which averaged 98.7 points per game...helped the Rams post a 30-5 overall record in 2005-06...helped Fresno City to a first place finish in the Central Valley Conference with a 13-1 mark...averaged 9.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game during conference play...FCC advanced to the semifinals of the California state championships...averaged 2.1 assists and 1.5 steals per contest...shot 51.4 percent from the field, 39.4 percent from 3-point range and 68.6 percent from the free throw line...during conference action, shot 59.1 percent from the floor, 40.0 percent from 3-point land, and 67.6 percent from the free throw line...scored a season-high 16 points during conference play.

Jon Ziri
Jon Ziri is in his fifth and final season of collegiate basketball at LMU after serving as a redshirt in 2003-04. Earned valuable playing time as a freshman, playing in 25 of 29 games in his first season of action and then came through for the Lions as a redshirt sophomore when he was inserted in the starting line-up after three games. Was tabbed a Street & Smith honorable mention All-American following his senior campaign... earned all-state, All-Phoenix Metro first-team, and All-East Valley first-team honors as a junior and senior prep... was named the All-East Valley Player of the Year in 1997 and 1998... set the school record in 1996-97 with 84 three-pointers...he had a 19.6 ppg scoring average as a junior... that year, he converted 197-of-552 from the field... connected on 84-of-263 from beyond the three-point line and hit 89-of-145 from the free-throw line... totalled 160 rebounds in 1996-97, while dishing out 38 assists, collecting 66 steals and blocking six shots... as as senior prep, he averaged a career-high 22.7 points per game after scoring 545 total points...hit 170-of-424 from the field, 68-of-209 from the three-point line, and 133-of-198 from the charity stripe... recorded 68 assists, 48 steals and blocked four shots as a senior... scored a total of 1123 points as a prep, while finishing with 152 three-pointers, and 302 total rebounds... coach was Sam Antcliff.

MLN Newswire-www.mlntherawfeed.com-Phoenix, AZ—The Phoenix Flame, an expansion team in the International Basketball League, have added Tony Jones to their 2007 roster. Jones, better known as ‘Go Get It’ from the And 1 Mix Tape Tour and the ESPN show Streetball, will play shooting guard and both forward positions for the Flame. Jones, 6’8”, played at Mesa Community College (1997-1999) before transferring to Chicago State University to complete his collegiate career. Jones has played in several summer pro leagues, earning individual workouts with the Washington Wizards and Memphis Grizzlies.
Jones first competed on the And 1 Mix Tape Tour in 2003 as an opposing player before earning a permanent spot during the Phoenix tour stop in June of 2006...(please click on link for more info)
