Mr. Erik Lutz

Hello, and thank you for visiting the McClintock High School Activities page! My name is Erik Lutz, and I am honored to serve as the Assistant Principal for Activities here at McClintock. I am extremely excited about the 2022-2023 school year and the privilege of providing our students with a comprehensive extracurricular program and all of the rich experiences that personify what it means to be a Charger!

As a native Arizonan/Tempean, I am a product of Tempe schools, attended Meyer and McKemy, and proudly graduated from the one and only McClintock. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education from ASU and completed my Master’s in Educational Leadership from Capella University.

My teaching career started at Maricopa High School, teaching American and World History, coaching baseball and basketball, and sponsoring several clubs. I then joined Mesa Public Schools with Skyline High School in east Mesa, and taught American/AP U.S. History, and continued to coach baseball, badminton, and tennis, in addition to sponsoring several clubs, including Be a Leader, Anti-Defamation League (ADL), and the No Place for Hate Committee. Following the experience I gained as a teacher leader, I undertook my first administrative role as a Team Leader at East Valley Academy in Mesa, which served a small population of students with various needs, backgrounds, and credits earned and helped them overcome challenges to find the academic success they had not previously experienced at their larger, home campuses. Most recently, I served as the Assistant Principal for Discipline and Attendance at Apollo High School in the Glendale Union High School District for three years.

I am a proud husband and dad to my beautiful wife, Stacey, and our children– my son Nash (3 years old) and daughter Sophie (2 years old). They mean the world to me and keep me very busy when I’m away from my second home at MHS.

The McClintock community is one built upon an unrivaled tradition of excellence and meaningful relationships which enable all who are part of it to thrive. In order to continue that legacy, I would like to extend an open invitation and warm welcome to all of the parents, students, and community members into the home of the mighty Chargers. We pursue greatness in everything we do here at MHS, and I am thrilled to have you be an integral part of that.

I look forward to seeing you at a McClintock event soon.

Once a Charger, Always a Charger!
