Summer Education Academy Online Course Requirements

SEA Online Session Dates:

**Online classes will start on two dates. To start a second course, follow the completion deadlines.
Focus:
Credit Advancement (Online Option)
All Credit Advancement courses will be completed online.
Meeting Times:
All online classes require a minimum of 4 – 6 hours daily of completed work. Completing and submitting assigned coursework is necessary to make adequate weekly progress.
Students are limited to one online class at a time in the summer. Students are limited to two courses. Daily coursework is completed and submitted by students online. All coursework must be submitted and graded before the final exam.
Class limits/Cancellations:
Class registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Early registration is important since time slots and openings are limited. Classes without sufficient enrollment may be canceled.
A total of 1.0 (two (2) classes) can be completed online. Students are limited to one online class at a time. Students are NOT allowed to take both in-person and online classes at the same time. All online courses must be completed on or before DATE TBD, including the in-person final exam.

Registration for all classes closed on TBD.- Complete online Google Registration form for TUHSD Summer Education Academy.
- A counselor will verify the submitted registration form.
- An e-mail will be sent with confirmation of registration.
Attendance Policy:
Summer school is a voluntary program. All online classes require a minimum of 4 - 6 hours daily of completed work. Completing and submitting assigned coursework is necessary to make adequate weekly progress.
Online classes may only be accessed within the United States. If you are planning to travel outside of the US during summer school, please do not enroll in a SEA online course.

**All online coursework must be completed before taking the final exam. Students must earn a 60% or better on coursework and must pass the final with a 60% or better to earn credit in the course.

SEA Online - FAQs

Can online classes be taken outside of the US?
No, students are not able to access online classes outside of the United States.

Can online classes be taken outside of Arizona?
Yes, however, students must take the final exam in person at Mountain Pointe High School on June 13 or 14, for session 1, and June 29 or 30, for session 2.

What if I want to take 2 semesters of classes online in SEA?
Sign up for the both semester courses (i.e. SST100A & B - World History A), upon completion/ passing the final exam on June 13 or 14, students will be able to access the next semester course for session 2. All courses must be completed by June 30, 2023, including passing the in-person final exam.

What if I don’t finish my online course in session 1 by June 14, 2023?
Students will have until June 30, 2023 to complete the online course. However, they will not be able to move into the next .5 course in session 2 unless the first .5 course is completed in session 1.

What if I do not complete my online course by June 30, 2023?
Any course that was started online, but not completed by June 30, 2023 will receive a failing grade on the student transcript.

How is attendance taken for online courses?
Attendance is tracked by student progress through the course. All minutes spent working in the online course are recorded. Students must successfully complete all activities and pass all tests, quizzes and exams at 60% or higher to complete the course.

How many hours per day is expected to complete a course?
4 – 6 hours per day is the expected amount of time to complete each course and be ready to take the final exam.
