Tempe, AZ — The Tempe Union High School District is proud to announce that Rafael Mather Alvear, a senior at Desert Vista High School, and Charlotte Gould, a senior at Corona del Sol High School, have been selected as 2026 Flinn Scholars—one of the most prestigious academic honors in the state of Arizona.

Tempe,AZ -- Between preparing delicious food, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, Tempe Union nutrition professionals have a lot on their plate. To celebrate their hard work and commitment, Tempe Union high schools will celebrate School Lunch Hero Day on May 1. This day, celebrated annually since 2013, was designated by The School Nutrition Association and Jarrett Krosoczka, author of the “Lunch Lady” graphic novel series.  School Lunch Hero Day provides an opportunity for parents, students, school staff and communities to thank those who provide healthy meals to nearly 30 million of America’s students each school day.

TEMPE, AZ – The Tempe Union High School District is proud to announce that Tempe High School and McClintock High School have been recognized as Arizona Educational Foundation (AEF®) A+ Schools of Excellence® for 2026, the highest state-level honor awarded to public schools in Arizona. This recognition highlights outstanding academic programs, strong student achievement, and school communities that consistently support and challenge students to succeed.

Tempe, AZ — The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®) has announced the names of Semifinalists in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program, and 25 Tempe Union High School District seniors have earned this prestigious recognition. These academically talented students are among the top high school seniors in the nation, representing less than one percent of U.S. graduates. They now have the opportunity to compete for nearly 7,000 National Merit Scholarships worth about $26 million that will be awarded in spring 2026.

Busy weekday mornings make it a challenge for many families to find time for a healthy breakfast.  Fortunately, Tempe Union High Schools offer nutritious school breakfasts, complete with fruit and low-fat or fat-free milk, to ensure students are fueled up for learning every school day.

The prestigious honors recognize excellence in student filmmaking across Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and El Centro, California.
