Life & Disability Insurance

TUHSD provides (at no cost to the benefit-eligible employee) life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance. Benefit eligible employees are entitled to $50,000 term life and $50,000 AD&D.

TUHSD provides (at no cost to the benefit-eligible employee) a short-term disability plan that pays 66-2/3 % of an employee’s monthly salary after he/she has satisfied the required 60-day eligibility waiting period. The coverage period is for up to 17 weeks.

Long-term disability is provided through an employee’s participation in the Arizona State Retirement System. The long-term disability plan pays 66-2/3% of an employee’s monthly salary after he/she has satisfied the required eligibility waiting period.

Both plans are subject to review and approval by the issuing insurance company.
