2019 TUHSD Film Festival

The Tempe Union High School District has Film & TV Programs at 4 of our schools: McClintock, Corona del Sol, Mountain Pointe, and Desert Vista. Teams of these students were tasked to create a short film with several requirements, including: 

Required materials included:

Required Prop (A prop that must be visible at some point during the film):

  • Spray Cheese

Required Character (A character that must be mentioned by name at some point during the film):

  • Chris the Photographer

Lines of Dialogue (Must be said aloud, or made complete visible during the film):

  • Are you really going to _____ that?
  • There's something I need to tell you.
  • Get Down

Winners were chosen by a panel of judges from the media. Winning teams received a trophy and a cash prize. The movies were ranked in 9 different categories: 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Use of Required Dialogue, Best use of Required Character, and Best Use of Required Prop. 

The judging panel included: Rick Fowler, Instructional Facilitator at Spot 127 in Tempe; Darrin Ramage, CEO of  Sun Studios in Tempe; Sarah Jackson, Hollywood Executive Producer and Marcos de Niza alumnae; Jennifer Liewer, Executive Director of Community Relations TUHSD; Becca Smouse, Webmaster & Digital Media Coordinator for Tempe Union High School District.
