EL Program Services
English Learner Program Services | Servicios del programa para estudiantes del idioma inglés
The English Language Development (ELD) program services include classroom instruction following two of the state-approved models. EL students with an English proficiency level of Pre-Emergent at Tempe High School, McClintock, and Marcos de Niza will have two hours of EL classes, following the state-approved Two-Hour model. EL students with the proficiency levels of Emergent, Basic and Intermediate at Tempe High School, McClintock, and Marcos de Niza will attend a targeted one-hour EL class following the requirements of the state-approved Pull-Out model. At Corona del Sol, Mountain Pointe and Desert Vista, all proficiency levels for all EL students will attend a one-hour targeted EL class following the state-approved Pull-Out model of instruction. Districtwide all EL classes are planned and delivered by certified teachers trained in SEI strategies. This model is followed by all schools in the district.
Please note: If a language other than English is the primary language spoken by your child or your family, please make sure this is indicated on the school Enrollment Form and Home Language Survey.
