Sports and Entertainment Marketing is offered to students grades 9-12 who have an interest in learning about the fields of business, sales, marketing, merchandising, and management occupations as they apply to the entertainment business.  This course will help students develop a thorough understanding of the marketing concepts and theories that apply to sports and entertainment events.  This course will cover basic marketing, target marketing and segmentation, sponsorship, event marketing, promotions, sponsor- ship proposals and sports marketing plans.  This course will also delve into the compo- nents of promotion plans, sponsorship proposals and the key elements needed in sports marketing plans.  Students enrolling in this course are strongly encouraged to join DECA, which is the career and technical student organization associated with the Marketing program.  Opportunities through DECA include leadership development, field trips, travel, and competition.
