Arizona Cardinals name Desert Vista's Dan Hinds Coach of the Week

Coach Dan Hinds For the fourth time in his career as Desert Vista head coach, business teacher Dan Hinds was named the Arizona Cardinals and Wells Fargo Coach of the Week.

Hinds was recognized for his outstanding coaching by a panel of local sports personalities for his performance in week 7 of this season.

Hinds, who is now in his 17th season, led the team to storm over Mountain Pointe Friday night during the annual Tukee Bowl. This marks the first win by DV in the Tukee Bowl since 2011.

Along with coaching, Hinds teaches Computer Applications, Advanced Business Marketing and Advanced P.E.

On Thursday, October 11, the Cardinals will present Hinds with a certificate signed by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Cardinals President Michael Bidwill and Head Coach Steve Wilks. The Cardinals Cheerleaders, Arizona Cardinals Alumni and team mascot Big Red will present the school with $2,000 to support its football program on behalf of Cardinals Charities.

The award is selected by a local sports panel consisting of Cardinals Senior Director of Community Relations Luis Zendejas, AZ Preps365 Play by Play Michael Carotenuto, NBC-12 sports anchor Bruce Cooper, NBC-12 Sports Reporter Tresa Tudrick, AIA Game of the Week Color Commentary/Former HS Football Coach Kelly Epley, Arizona Republic/azcentral.com writer Richard Obert, and Arizona Cardinals Defensive Lineman #98 Corey Peters.
