TUHSD recognizes Drunk Driving Awareness Month through school-wide activities
Tempe Union High School District's Health and Wellness coaches offered creative activities at lunchtime to recognize Drunk Driving Awareness Month.
These event are part of the district's High School Health and Wellness Program. Funded by the Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Families, the wellness program works to prevent underage drinking and drug use by high school students.
Marcos de Niza challenged students to complete mock field sobriety test while wearing goggles replicating different levels of impairment. The test included walk-and-turn and the one-leg stand. The tests were given by Marcos de Niza school resource officer Thomas O' Brien, along with Tempe Police DUI motor officers.

Desert Vista students wore goggles that replicated different levels of alcohol impairment while driving a bicycle through a course around campus. The goggles caused blurred vision and double vision.
