With marching band season coming to a close, there's a new band in town at McClintock High School: Jazz Band.

Jazz band, led by McClintock band director Tom Broccolo, practices and performs in the spring. The band features brass instruments, such as trumpets, saxophones, as well as from rhythmic support from bass guitar and the drums.

"The most rewarding thing for me, I believe, is you get to share the art-form of jazz," said Broccolo, who has been teaching at McClintock since 2017. "There's so many different ways you can branch off in jazz."

The band will have two performances in February:

  • Feb. 20: Jazz Concert with Orchestra @ McClintock High School
  • Feb. 26: Area jazz festival at Paradise Valley Community College

Broccolo also teaches several levels of symphonic band, marching band and guitar.
