Desert Vista names sand volleyball head coach


Desert Vista High School is recommending that Matt Cohen be approved by the Tempe Union High School District Governing Board as head coach for sand volleyball.

Coach Cohen has experience coaching at the high school and collegiate levels. He and his family recently moved back to Arizona from Florida where he spent three years as the head indoor and beach volleyball coach at St. John’s River State College.
Prior to moving to Florida, Cohen spent six years as the head coach at Yavapai College in Prescott and one year as an assistant coach at Concordia University Irvine. In addition to coaching at the college level, he has 10 years of high school varsity head coaching experience and has worked with some of the top volleyball clubs in California, Arizona, and Florida.

Cohen is a Southern California native and a Concordia University Irvine graduate. He currently works at Arizona State University as the Student Success Center Coordinator for the Global Freshman Academy and is working toward his Master’s Degree in Family and Human Development. He is married to his best friend, Julie, and they have three children, Tyler (14), Kiki (12), and Lucy (7).
